While everyone is hunkered down for the winter, we wanted to share some incredible organizations that accept gently-used items. The holiday season is always a great time to declutter your home along with embracing the spirit of giving!
Second Chance is all about giving new opportunities to any previously used item from your house, whether it be appliances, doors, dishes, instruments, the possibilities are endless! This non-profit organization is also passionate about giving people and the environment a second chance! They care about giving jobs back to the community along with extensive training practices. When salvaging materials, the environment benefits too.
They welcome donations at their warehouse from 9 am to 5 pm Thursday to Sunday. The address is 1700 Ridgely Street in Baltimore, MD 21230, look for Bay 8 of their 250,000 & plus square foot warehouse!

Purple Heart is devoted to giving back to veterans in the Baltimore area. Through their GreenDrop donation gift drop off and pick up partnership, they are able to provide funding for the betterment of the veteran community at large! They encourage donations of gently used “clothing, shoes, household items, kitchenware, games, toys, & small appliances!”

Health Care for the Homeless strives to help Baltimore prevent and end homelessness, especially to those particularly vulnerable such as children and their families. The mission they stand by is supported in providing “quality, integrated health care while promoting access to affordable housing and sustainable incomes through direct service, advocacy and community engagement.”
